The Dales Way, June 2024

Our little group of 70+ year olds has a "long walk" every year. This year we chose to repeat the Dales Way from Ilkley to Bowness, walking for eight days, luggage and accommodation organised by Shepherds Walks. With two minor hiccups the walk went very smoothly. Hiccup one. The taxi company due to take us back to Ilkley on our first walking day denied the booking! A call to Shepherds Walks had that sorted out in minutes, our calls to the company got us nowhere, so thanks. Hiccup 2: In Grassington we were in two residences, The Forresters Arms and Grassington Lodge. The next day the luggage of those in the Lodge failed to appear at The George, Hubberholme. Again a few phone calls to Shepherds Walks sorted the problem. I have asked the team for comments and overwhelmingly we agreed that Shepherds Walks organised everything extremely well. From our original booking to getting home communication with the company was first class, a couple of changes we had to make were easily dealt with. The only complaint, which had nothing to do with Shepherds, was the condition of the carpet in Forresters Lodge, Grassington. And the facetious complaint was that Betty's Cafe in Ilkley was closed for refurbishment! We can't thank you enough, we had a most enjoyable trip and recommend your company to any group wishing to follow one of your walks. Unfortunately I do not have the technical skills to upload photos but should you wish to read our blog go to gadgiewalks.blogspot.com The Dales Diary Volume 2 yours on behalf of the team Mike Emmett
