The Cumbria Way was originally created by the local Ramblers Association in the 1970’s and it is a 74-mile picturesque walk linking the historic Cumbrian towns of Ulverston and Carlisle.
Ulverston to Langdale is mainly low-level running through valleys, pastured hillsides, and woodland.
When leaving Langdale to Caldbeck the route runs over Stake Pass, Skiddaw and the highest point of the Cumbria Way, High Pike. This middle section provides some breath taking high mountain walking.
The last section leaves the Cumbrian Fells with easier walking passing through woodlands and farmers’ fields, following the river Caldew into Carlisle.
During the walk you will pass quaint villages, homely country pubs and fantastic scenery.
Shepherds Walks Holidays offer self-guided Cumbria Way walking holidays over the entire length of this long-distance trail, please take a look at what we have on offer.
